Shaping Our Appalachian Region license plate approved

900 applications needed to produce plates

SOAR-Liscense-Plate-Design-Concept-V4-1024x512FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 16, 2015) — A new Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) license plate featuring an eagle logo and an Eastern Kentucky mountain scene has been approved by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC).

A minimum of 900 applications for the special license plate must be received before the plate can be produced. The minimum must be reached within two years.

Gov. Steve Beshear and Rep. Hal Rogers began the SOAR initiative in late 2013 to address economic issues in the region, build on strengths and find community-generated solutions to chronic challenges.
