Murray State men’s basketball coach announces resignation

Steve Prohm to coach at Iowa State University

MURRAY, Ky. (June 9, 2015) — Murray State University men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm announced he is leaving the school to take the head coaching position at Iowa State University vacated by Fred Hoiberg, who was hired by the Chicago Bulls of the NBA.

In four seasons at Murray State Prohm went 104-29, winning the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in 2012 and advancing to the NCAA round of 32. Prohm, who went 54-10 in the OVC, led the Racers to the NIT quarterfinals this season.

Iowa State went 25-9 last season in the Big 12, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.

Former assistant Matt McMahon, who left Murray State last month for Louisiana Tech, is expected to be offered the Murray State job, CBS Sports is reporting.
