State Treasurer-elect Allison Ball announces staff hires

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2015) — State Treasure-elect Allison Ball announced she has selected three members for her staff. Ball will be sworn into office on Jan. 4, 2016.

Janet Cuthrell will serve as Chief of Staff. Cuthrell is a field representative for Sen. Mitch McConnell. She is the 4th District Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Kentucky and a founding member of the Louisville Tea Party. Cuthrell worked for Sen. McConnell’s 2014 re-election campaign and was County Coordinator for the Republican Party of Kentucky.

Cuthrell, who has 10 years of administrative experience, has a degree in Business Administration from Lynchburg College. In addition to Sen. McConnell, Cuthrell worked for Idaho U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo. Cuthrell is married to Dr. Vance Cuthrell, a maternal fetal medicine specialist. They live in Shelby County with their two daughters.

Noah Friend will serve as General Counsel. Friend’s private practice in Pikeville focused on bankruptcy, business reorganization, and appellate and federal litigation. Friend represented hundreds of individuals and small businesses in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Friend holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Friend clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward B. Atkins. Friend is married to Crystal Friend, who is assuming the role of managing partner in the law firm. They are awaiting the birth of their third child in March.

OJ Oleka will serve as Communications Director. He holds a Marketing degree from the University of Louisville, where he was elected Student Body President and Chair of the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents.

Oleka worked on communications and campaign operations for Republican Hal Heiner’s gubernatorial campaign. Prior to that, Oleka served as Recruitment Manager for Teach For America. Oleka is leaving the marketing firm New Age Communications. He serves on the Jefferson County Republican Party Executive Committee and is a former Louisville Young Republicans Chair. Oleka lives in Louisville.
