Allegiant expands CVG service to Florida Panhandle, Washington D.C.

Flights begin in April and May

COVINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 12, 2016) — Allegiant Travel Company will expand service from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to new destinations in Destin, Fla. and Washington D.C., both operating with two weekly flights. Service to Washington D.C. begins April 29 and to Destin from May 20 to Sept. 5. With the new destinations Allegiant will now offer 13 nonstop destinations from CVG.

“We are excited about Allegiant’s continued growth at CVG with the addition of two new destinations,” said Candace McGraw, CVG chief executive officer. “The Florida Panhandle has long been a desired non-stop destination for vacation travelers in the Tri-State region. We are also pleased that CVG will now provide the region’s only low cost service to another key destination — Baltimore-Washington.”

Allegiant has also agreed to a five-year airport lease agreement for its Allegiant Air Base of Operations. The new base becomes Allegiants 14th base and will be home to three Airbus A319 aircraft. As part of the new base Allegiant has hired more than 100 new local employees through a combination of pilots, flight attendants and local support staff.

“We are excited and honored that Allegiant has decided to once again grow their operations at CVG and further build on their commitment to the Tri-State community through their new 5 year lease agreement,” said J. Michael Schlotman, Kenton County Airport Board chairman. “We congratulate Allegiant on their success at CVG and look forward to supporting their expansion.”
