Assistant administrator named for Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore

Was executive director of Daisy Hill Senior Living

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 12, 2016) — Lexington native Chad Helton has been named the new assistant administrator at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Helton, 33, received his Nursing Home Administrator License shortly after graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Health Care Administration. He has served as a leader in senior living for the past several years, most recently as the executive director of Daisy Hill Senior Living in Versailles.

“It’s heartwarming to welcome someone who has been studying and working on long-term care since high school,” said Heather French Henry, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. “He is already proving to be a natural in serving our veterans.”

Helton started working in senior living as a junior in high school, waiting tables at a senior living community in Lexington. While there he quickly found his passion for serving seniors. He moved from the kitchen to the activities department where he knew this was how he wanted to spend his career.

“That is why I am so excited about working at THVC,” Helton says. “The quality of care and the quality of staff experience set the standard for long-term care in Kentucky. And it doesn’t get more rewarding than serving the veterans who sacrificed for us all.”

Helton and his family live in Lexington. His wife Julie is a physical therapist in Lexington, and they have two young children, Madilyn and Mason.
