Longtime Lexington business Fayette Seed to close doors

1603958_01LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2016) — Fayette Seed, a Lexington-based business that his been in operation since 1934, announced it will close its doors on Oct. 29, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

Owner Jerry Goins said the hope is to sell the business on Red Mile Road, but if that doesn’t happen, owners will hold a dispersal auction in late November to sell off any remaining inventory and equipment. Goins said there are no plans to sell the acre and a quarter on of land, but would lease it if no one buys the business.

Fayette Seed, which partners with a local greenhouse to start seeds for plants. specializes in lawn and garden supplies and seeds, selling to greenhouse accounts, commercial landscapers and home gardeners, reports the Herald-Leader.
