BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Western Kentucky University’s College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) will honor the opening of their first student-applied research center, the WKU Center for Environmental and Workplace Health (CEWH). A ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. CST at the WKU Center for Research Development, located at 2413 Nashville Road.
The Center’s vision is to become a leader in student-centered applied research and outreach that transforms environmental, workplace, and occupational health and safety in Kentucky and the region. The CEWH will address local, regional and national needs in environmental, workplace, and occupational health and safety through innovative student centered applied research, education, outreach, and service that improves the health of the community.
“We are very excited to now have a research center within our college,” commented Dr. Ritchie Taylor, associate professor in the WKU Department of Public Health and director for the new center. “This center will provide both our students, faculty, staff and our community partners with the ability to collaborate in research that supports evidence-based practice.”
The ceremonial ribbon cutting of the CEWH will be hosted by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. WKU President Caboni will offer opening remarks, followed by Dean of the CHHS Dr. Neale Chumbler, CEWH Director Ritchie Taylor, and WKU Department of Public Health graduate Rebecca Lauth.
