Midway University names new dean of health sciences

MIDWAY, Ky. — Midway University has named a new dean of health sciences, Dr. Faith Garrett. In this role, she will direct all aspects of the School of Health Sciences which oversees the nursing and healthcare programs.

“Dr. Garrett comes to Midway with an outstanding record of success in similar positions,” said Dr. Mary Elizabeth Stivers, vice president of academic affairs. “She’s going to be a tremendous asset to this institution as we continue to grow enrollment and build on our strong reputation in educating nurses and leaders in the healthcare industry.”

Garrett comes to Midway from the University of West Florida where she served as the BSN program coordinator. Prior to that, she served as the founding dean of nursing and health sciences and associate professor of nursing at Gordon State College. In total, she has more than 18 years of experience in higher education.

In addition to her career in academics, Garrett has more than 25 years of experience as a working nurse including positions in the areas of critical care, oncology, recovery room, emergency room employee health and risk management, just to name a few.

She holds a doctorate in health care education as well as an MSN, BSN and ASN. She is a licensed ARNP, RN.

Garrett assumed her position in August.
