PINEVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 15, 2016) — Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes today recognized Long’s Pic Pac, a Bell County grocery business, as a small business honoree in her office’s Corporations for the Commonwealth program.
Corporations for the Commonwealth, which Grimes launched last year, recognizes Kentucky businesses that demonstrate a commitment to giving, a drive to improve local and/or regional communities, and a culture of giving within their organizations.
“Long’s Pic Pac’s investment to Bell County goes far beyond creating good jobs for the people of Bell County,” said Grimes. “From supporting local organizations, to sponsoring school and church groups, to ensuring its employees are equipped to succeed, Long’s Pic Pac is an outstanding member of the community and the commonwealth. I’m proud to recognize the Long family’s corporate citizenship by designating it as a small business Corporations for the Commonwealth honoree.”
Long’s Pic Pac is owned by Mike and Sandy Long. Ray Long, who died last year, started the business that became Long’s Pic Pac more than 50 years ago. His commitment to Bell County and Pineville now lives on through his family and faithful employees.
Long’s management and employees serve and support organizations such as the Kiwanis Club and in church and other civic groups. Long’s is invested in future generations, sponsoring school groups and encouraging young people to continue their educations and preparing students for employment.
Corporations for the Commonwealth recognizes one large (more than 50 employees) and one small (50 employees or fewer) organization through a nomination process that is open to the public. The large business honoree will be announced next week.
