LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville today announced that Shannon Rickett has been named interim assistant vice president for government relations effective Jan. 2, pending board of trustees’ approval.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Kentucky,” said Rickett, a Corbin native. “This is a wonderful opportunity to come back to the Commonwealth to serve my alma mater, the University of Louisville. I can’t wait to get started.”
Since 2012 Rickett has been an adviser to U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky. First, she was a field representative in Somerset and, later, moved to Washington, D.C., as his legislative assistant. Her career also includes professional work with the Ohio Republican Party and National Institute for Hometown Security.
Rickett was a McConnell Scholar at UofL, an officer in student government and earned her degree in business administration, summa cum laude, in 2002. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law, Waco, Texas, in 2005.
