Two horses share top price of $200,000 at Monday’s session of Keeneland stock sale

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 12, 2013) – Worldly, who ran third in the Breeders’ Cup Marathon (G2) on Nov. 1 at Santa Anita, and the broodmare Bella Felicita each was sold for $200,000 to lead Monday’s seventh session of the 70th annual Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. The gross of $8,960,100 for 304 horses sold during the session marked a 60 percent increase from the seventh session in 2012 when 271 horses sold for $5,584,700.

The average of $29,474 was 43 percent higher than the $20,608 from 2012. The median of $24,500 rose 44 percent from last year.

Worldly is a 6-year-old stakes-winning son of A.P. Indy out of Grade 1 winner Urbane, by Citidancer, and a full brother to Grade 2 winner Suave. Chris Brothers signed the ticket for the horse on behalf of Xavier International Bloodstock, agent, and said Worldly was purchased on behalf of owner Al Shareef Hazza Al Abdali of Saudi Arabia to race and eventually enter stud. Worldly is expected to be pointed to the 2,400-meter King’s Cup, the most famous race in Saudi Arabia, in February.

Worldly was consigned by St. George Sales, agent.

Preferred Equine, agent for Lindy Farms, purchased Bella Felicita, a 4-year-old daughter of El Prado (IRE) in foal to Macho Uno. Consigned by Adena Springs, she is out of stakes winner My Marchesa, by Stately Don, dam of Grade 3 winner Mark One and stakes winner Daiwa Carson.

After seven sessions, Keeneland has sold 1,643 horses for $179,416,800, which is a 38 percent increase from the $130,171,600 grossed during the corresponding period last year. The average of $109,201 is 24 percent higher than the $88,372 last year, and the median of $52,000 represents a 30 percent increase from last year.

On Monday, JCDW spent $165,000 on the session’s highest-priced weanling, a colt by Gio Ponti. Beau Lane Bloodstock, agent, consigned the colt, who is out of the stakes-placed Kissin Kris mare Kissin Party.

Adena Springs was the session’s leading consignor, selling 30 horses for $1,091,700.

The leading buyer was El Aventurero Stables, which purchased five horses for $267,000.
