Travel generates $12.5 billion for Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 30, 2015) — National Travel and Tourism Week, from May 2-10, is celebrated in communities across the U.S. to shine a light on the economic and personal benefits of travel.
Travel and tourism statistics are:
- Travel generates $2.1 trillion for the U.S. economy and $12.5 billion for Kentucky.
- One in every nine American jobs depends on travel.
- The U.S. travel and tourism industry generated nearly $74 billion in trade surplus for the U.S. economy in 2014.
- Travel generated $141.5 billion in tax revenue for local, state and federalgovernments last year.
