Kentucky Oil and Gas Association names executive director

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 28, 2016) — The Kentucky Oil and Gas Association (KOGA) has named Matt Sawyers as the organization’s executive director.

As Chief of Staff at the Department for Local Government and Deputy Secretary of the Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet, Sawyers served as representative to the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Delta Regional Authority and executive director of the Kentucky Sports Authority. Sawyers has also managed projects such as the Dawkins Line Rail-Trail in Eastern Kentucky, served as liaison to the inaugural Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway and as a board member of the 2010 World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park.

“Kentucky’s oil and natural gas industry plays a critical role in our state and national economic well-being, so I am honored to have the opportunity to join such a tradition-rich, well-respected association,” said Sawyers. “As ED of KOGA, I will work to educate the public and the legislature of the industry’s critical role, as well as seek ways to continually add value to our members’ experiences through advocacy, education, and networking opportunities.”

KOGA also named association management professional Laura Cole associate director. She most recently served as COO for the Kentucky Broadcasters Association and has more than 10 years of association management experience. She is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Society of Association Executives.
