DOT report shows CVG fares down 12% in fourth quarter 2016

Down 26% in two years

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 25, 2017) — The U.S. Department of Transportation’s average airfare ranking report for the fourth quarter of 2016 shows that Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport had an average fare of $367, down 12 percent from $419 in the fourth quarter of 2015.

image001The average fare at Louisville International Airport was $404 in the fourth quarter of 2016 and Blue Grass Airport had an average of $395.

CVG fares are down 26 percent from $496 in the fourth quarter of 2014 and round-trip fares are down $129 over the past 24 months, the airport announced. The low-cost carrier capacity at CVG was 21 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, compared to 16 percent in the fourth quarter of 2015.

CVG had 428,130 originating passengers in the fourth quarter of 2016, ranking it third among airports with 100,000 to 499,999 originating passengers.

Louisville International Airport had 214,590 originating passengers in the fourth quarter of 2016, ranking it 21st among airports with 100,000 to 499,999 originating passengers.

Blue Grass Airport had 92,830 originating passengers in the fourth quarter of 2016, ranking it fourth among airports with 50,000 to 99,999 originating passengers.
