Asbury grad wins national tournament on ESPN2 in new sport Spikeball

WILMORE, Ky. — Peter Jon Showalter is not your average recent college graduate. He’s also a national Spikeball champion.

Showalter came to Asbury University as a transfer student and, shortly after, popularized the sport Spikeball on campus. He’s competed and won in national competitions and holds the 2017 national championship title with his partner Tyler Cisek.

Recently, Showalter represented Asbury in the College Roundnet Nationals at Ohio State where Asbury teams finished in second place. On May 5, Showalter took his Spikeball expertise to national sports television (ESPN2), competing in and winning the first East Tour Stop Tournament of 2018 in Lancaster, Penn.
