FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:
Jonathan Campbell, Shellie A. May, David Merdian, William D. Lohr, Jeffrey Howard, Allen J. Brenzel, Gail Williams and Robert Larry Taylor have been appointed as members of the Advisory Council on Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Jonathan Campbell, of Lexington, is a professor. He will represent the University of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2021; and
- Shellie A. May, of Louisville, is the executive director of the Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs. She will represent the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022; and
- David Merdian, of Louisville, is a student. He will represent the Commonwealth Council for Developmental Disabilities and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022; and
- William D. Lohr, of Frankfort, is a medical director. He will represent the Department for Community Based Services and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2020; and
- Jeffrey Howard, of Frankfort, is the commissioner of the Department of Public Health. He will represent the Department of Public Health and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022; and
- Allen J. Brenzel, of Lexington, is a physician medical director. He will represent the Department for Behavioral Health and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022; and
- Gail Williams, of Louisville, is a developmental behavior pediatrician. She will represent pediatricians and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022; and
- Robert Larry Taylor, of Shelbyville, is an education administrator. He will represent the Kentucky Autism Training Center and serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2022.
The Advisory Council on Autism Spectrum Disorder promotes collaborative efforts and advocates to improve system of supports for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families across Kentucky.
Eric L. Crump has been appointed as a member of the Commission on Small Business Advocacy.
- Eric L. Crump, of Louisville, is an attorney. He will represent the 3rd Congressional District and serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2019.
The Commission on Small Business Advocacy (CSBA) promotes a cooperative and constructive relationship between state agencies and the small business community to ensure coordination and implementation of statewide strategies that benefit small business in the Commonwealth.
Janice C. Turpen has been appointed as a member of the Appalachian/Kentucky Artisans Gateway Center Authority.
- Janice C. Turpen, of Somerset, is a teacher and business owner. She will represent the Kentucky Arts Council and serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022.
The Appalachian/Kentucky Artisans Gateway Center Authority develops, operates, and manages the Appalachian/Kentucky Artisans Gateway Center in Berea.
Warren Beeler, Todd Andrew Clark and Brian Scott Travis have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Tobacco Research Board.
- Warren Beeler, of Caneyville, is executive director for the Governor’s Office of Agriculture Policy. He will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2020; and
- Todd Andrew Clark, of Lexington, is a farmer. He will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2020; and
- Brian Scott Travis, of Coxs Creek, is a farmer. He will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2020.
The Kentucky Tobacco Research Board is composed of 13 members — 10 permanent members and 3 at-large members appointed by the Governor. The Board formulates policies and procedures and ensures proper expenditure of state funds for the Kentucky Tobacco Research and Development Center. The Board also reviews and authorizes research projects and programs related to providing or disproving the health hazards of tobacco use.
