Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky.  Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Rachelle Dawn Frazier, Kevin Shaw, Jill B. Irwin and Patrick M. Henderson have been appointed as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 46th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky.

  • Rachelle Dawn Frazier, of Brandenburg, is an outreach ministry director. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and
  • Kevin Shaw, of Clarkson, is a water utility manager. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020; and
  • Jill B. Irwin, of Harned, is a retired county clerk. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020; and
  • Patrick M. Henderson, of Irvington, is a farmer. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022.

The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 46th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky is composed of seven members, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, two members of the Kentucky Bar Association, and four members appointed by the Governor from among persons not members of the Kentucky Bar Association. Of these four members, there are two representatives of each political party.

Douglas G. Adams, Paul Evans Fourshee, Lindsey Lee Jaeger, Everett D. McCorvey, Elizabeth Kathleen Griffith, and Janell Samuels have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Arts Council.

  • Douglas G. Adams, of Whitesburg, is an art teacher. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2022; and
  • Paul Evans Fourshee, of Cadiz, is a retail owner. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2022; and
  • Lindsey Lee Jaeger, of Union, is a patent attorney and visual artist. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2022; and
  • Everett D. McCorvey, of Lexington, is a music professor. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2022; and
  • Elizabeth Kathleen Griffith, of Owensboro, is executive director of the Wendell Ford Government Education Center. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2022; and
  • Janell Samuels, of Louisville, is the director of proposal development for KentuckyOne Health. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2020.

The Kentucky Arts Council develops and promotes a broadly conceived state policy of support for the arts in Kentucky.

Michael Jansen and Louis Clayton Sumner have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.

  • Michael Jansen, of Fort Thomas, is a sheriff. He will represent sheriffs and serve for a term expiring July 1, 2022; and
  • Louis Clayton Sumner, of Hopkinsville, is a police chief. He will represent chiefs of police and serve for a term expiring July 1, 2020.

The Kentucky Law Enforcement Council is a 20 member body, 12 of whom are appointed by the Governor. The Council governs training for state law enforcement. It looks for ways to increase the quality of law enforcement by improving the curriculum used to train law enforcement officials and monitoring the abilities of instructors teaching the required curriculum.
