Building Industry Association names new executive officer

Juva Barber

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new executive officer has been named to the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville, which is the second largest association of its kind in the country, representing more than 2,100 member companies, corporations and individuals involved in the residential and commercial construction, remodeling and home improvement industries.

Juva Barber, formerly the executive director of Kentuckians for Better Transportation, assumed the role of executive vice president on Nov. 19. She was chosen by a selection committee focused on finding a candidate with an association management background, as well as an in-depth understanding of government affairs, advocacy and the legislative and regulatory issues facing the building industry today.

“Juva is the perfect choice to lead the BIA through the next several years,” said Scott Welch of Welch Builders, Inc., the 2019 president elect of the association. “Her distinct background in associations and the home building and construction industry, in particular, make her uniquely qualified to be our executive officer, and we are looking forward to her contributions.”

Barber led KBT since 2013, and previously served the Home Builders Association of Kentucky as government affairs director for 12 years.

The Building Industry Association represents the residential and commercial construction and development industries and concerns itself with government affairs, legislative advocacy, education and related building and housing activities in the Greater Louisville area.

Barber replaces Pat Durham, who has held the position since 2016.
