LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Dec. 10, the Leadership Louisville Center and Republic Bank Foundation broke ground on the second phase of construction at 707 W. Main Street. A special lease from Louisville Metro is allowing the Center to revitalize underutilized green space behind the building, and thanks to funding from the Republic Bank Foundation, the new park plaza will open in spring 2019. The courtyard for events and gathering is designed by Gresham Smith and is inspired by the award-winning High Line park in New York City.

Since the Leadership Louisville Center opened the new facility in March 2018, over 125 groups have utilized the community convening space, welcoming over 3,300 visitors. Cynthia Knapek, president of the Center, thanked the 75 donors and friends in attendance and expressed appreciation for project funder, Republic Bank Foundation. Steve Trager, CEO of Republic Bank, shared excitement for the community resource available not only with the outdoor courtyard, but with the quality of leadership development available through the Center.
