Transylvania to begin national search for academic affairs VP and dean

Laura Bryan

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania University will begin a national search for a permanent vice president and dean with the goal of filling the position before the start of the 2019-20 academic year, President Seamus Carey announced Tuesday.

The position was held by Laura Bryan since July 2015. She has accepted a teaching opportunity with the University of Kentucky.

“Laura Bryan joined our team during a time of renewal for our community,” Carey said. “She has worked diligently to enhance the personal, academic and professional achievement of both our students and educators.”

Bryan will begin as the T.G. Lewis Faculty Scholar in Organizational Behavior at the University of Kentucky in March, a position that returns her to the classroom.

“I am excited about this faculty opportunity because I am passionate about preparing future leaders to realize their potential by helping them understand their individual effectiveness in the context of organizations and the world of work,” Bryan said.

An interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the university will be named in the coming days and will take over the role beginning Feb. 16.
