LEXINGTON, Ky. — Red and yellow signs are popping up at construction sites around Lexington, throughout Kentucky and across the southeastern United States. That’s because Dean Builds, a Lexington-based construction company with a bold red and yellow logo, is winning more and bigger projects as the company grows.
To keep up the momentum, founder and majority owner David Dean recently brought two key employees on as owners of the company.
“It’s apparent that this company is growing into an operation that demands more from senior management. For that reason, we now have an expanded owner team that includes Jeff England and Jeremy Walker,” said Dean. “Adding to the ownership team sets us up for more growth and success in the future and adds invaluable expertise with these two industry veterans.”
Jeff England, vice president of operations, is a longtime Lexington resident and has worked in the industry for over 20 years. He manages company operations including project management, estimating, contracts and risk management along with project executive roles with clients. England holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky with emphasis in Construction Management. He attained his Professional Engineer license in 2002.
“We have a great team at Dean Builds and this is an exciting step for us,” said England. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help shape the company’s future along with all of the great people we have here at Dean Builds.”
Outside the office, England is a member of the board of directors of both the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kentucky and the Commercial Property Association of Lexington (CPAL). He is also a member of the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers and was previously on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Bluegrass.
Jeremy Walker, a native of Estill County, is a senior project manager and director of Dean Builds Self Perform (DBSP). He began his tenure with Dean Builds in 2011 following his graduation from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. In his project management role Walker has successfully completed numerous projects in sectors such as auto dealerships, retail and restaurants for clients including Tim Short Hyundai / Chrysler, Drake’s and TJX Brands to name a few. As director of DBSP, Walker oversees a team of 15 tradesmen performing concrete and general trades work.
“As a long-time team member, I have a lot of pride in what our company has accomplished and I’m honored to join David as an owner,” said Walker.
In the community, Walker has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, worked in disaster relief in Louisiana and Texas and enjoys coaching.
“This is a big step for our company as we move forward with our 5-year strategic plan,” said Dean. “We are prepared for our next stages and future progress at Dean Builds.”
Dean Builds has expanded its services and territory beyond its Lexington base to include ventures across the region and surrounding states. Its distinctive signs have graced construction sites for such projects as the University of Kentucky, Sayre Lower School, Midway University, Frontier Nursing University, Toyota South, Tim Short Ford Chrysler, Mt. Brilliant Farm, LaRosa’s, Starbucks, Planet Fitness and HomeGoods in central Kentucky, Roses retail in North Carolina, First Watch and Kia of Muncie in Indiana along with projects in Tennessee and Ohio.
