New guidelines for Kentucky restaurants and bars released

FRANKFORT, Ky. — To ensure the health and safety of Kentucky families, Gov. Andy Beshear urges Kentuckians to remain Healthy at Home and follow the federal and state protocols for limiting the spread of COVID-19, which can be found at kycovid19.ky.gov. Everyone needs to do their part for themselves, their loved ones, and our community. We have a responsibility to ourselves and to each other to protect our state and our community.

Healthy at Work is a phased approach to reopen Kentucky’s economy. It is based on criteria set by public health experts and advice from industry experts. Each phase will be rolled out in steps to ensure the Commonwealth’s citizens can safely return to work while still protecting the most vulnerable Kentuckians.

Beshear’s new guidelines for restaurants and bars went into effect Tuesday.

In addition to the state’s minimum requirements, restaurants and bars must:

• Require that all customers be seated
• Stop bar seating/service
• Stop service by 10 PM
• Close by 11 PM
• Limit capacity to 50%
• Prohibit congregating at bars
• Satisfy 6 feet rule.
