Kentucky Harvest has delivered a record amount of rescued food in 2020

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Harvest’s trucks have never stopped running and have delivered more rescued food this year than any other! In a typical year, they deliver about 2 million pounds of food. This year, they are well over 2.25 million pounds, which translates into 1.9 million meals. All of this food has been delivered to men, women, children, and families in the community who are dealing with food insecurity.

Kentucky Harvest’s mission is to end local hunger by connecting with food donors and engaging volunteers to rescue excess food and move it from those who have it to those in need. The organization was formed in 1987 to keep usable food from going into the landfills, and since then we have delivered over 77 million pounds of food to 80+ recipient organizations all across Kentuckiana saving those organizations millions of dollars that they can use to strengthen our community.

Kentucky Harvest is in need of donations to keep our trucks on the road and to keep food going to those who need it most. If you’d like to make a donation this holiday season, please go to kyharvest.org/donate
