Kentucky Crafted: The Market returns this weekend to Lexington Convention Center

207 exhibitors featured this year, 35 new to the event

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Crafted: The Market, the Kentucky Arts Council’s award-winning arts marketplace returns this weekend, March 1-3, to the Lexington Convention Center. The Market features the highest quality work from artists across the state who are adjudicated participants in the Kentucky Crafted Program.

Kentucky Crafted: The Market showcases the best of Kentucky art, craft, artisanal food products, books and CDs. There are also exhibits, hands-on activities for families and children, and two whole days of music on the Kentucky Stage.

1 – Kentucky Crafted: The Market is open for one day – March 1 – to wholesale buyers. On average, about 400 buyers attend The Market to purchase Kentucky-made art and craft each year. The wholesale trade day is closed to the public.

2 – The Market doors are open for two days to the general public, March 2-3. Market hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3.

3 – Students from three Kentucky institutes of higher learning are part of the Students at The Market exhibit. Visit art students from the University of Kentucky, Morehead State University and Berea College in Aisle 100 at the show.

4 – Artisans from four other state-related arts groups similar to Kentucky Crafted will be guest exhibitors at The Market. Look for artists representing Best of Missouri Hands, Indiana Artisan, Ohio Designer Craftsmen and the Southern Highland Craft Guild.

5 – Visit Kentucky Crafted: The Market to “Tempt the Senses,” the official 2013 Market theme. With more than 200 art, craft, food, music and book exhibitors, there’s lots to taste, touch, hear, see and smell.

8 or 10 – Admission is $8 if you buy tickets online by Feb. 27 or $10 at the door.

15 – The Kentucky Stage will feature 15 live musical acts and a total of 45 musicians, all talented artists in the arts council’s Performing Arts Directory. Hear Americana, Celtic, jazz, gospel, world and roots-rock music, including original tunes by some of Kentucky’s best singer-/songwriters.

20 –The Southeast Tourism Society named Kentucky Crafted: The Market a Top 20 Event in the southeastern United States for the 15th time this year.

31 – Kentucky Crafted: The Market turns 31 years old this year!

35 – There are 35 new exhibitors at the show from Kentucky and surrounding states.

43 – Kentucky Crafted artists from 43 Kentucky counties are exhibiting at this year’s show.

148 – Of the artists at The Market, 148 of them are adjudicated participants in the arts council’s Kentucky Crafted Program.

207 – Visit the booths of 207 exhibitors at Kentucky Crafted: The Market and shop for paintings, prints, jewelry, wearable art, home décor, furniture and artisan foods along with Kentucky-related books and CDs.

10,000 – Expected attendance over two days at this year’s Kentucky Crafted: The Market.
