Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 18, 2013)Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky State Advisory Panel for Exceptional Children to serve for terms expiring Aug. 8, 2016:

on the boardsDebra Katie Bentley, of Covington, is a community support coordinator at NorthKey Community Care. She represents parents. The appointment replaces Dana Kay Hamilton, whose term has expired.

Anita C. Dowd, of Lawrenceburg, is an executive staff adviser at the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The appointment replaces Tom Gravitt, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the panel to serve for terms expiring Aug. 8, 2016:

Martha Slemp, of Lawrenceburg, is a corrections education branch manager at the Department of Corrections. She represents juvenile justice.

Connie Pohlgeers, of Independence, is director of school improvement at Campbell County Schools. She represents parents.

Brent E. Merritt, of Lexington, is a high school music teacher and choral director for Scott County Public Schools. He represents parents.

Jaclyn Risden-Smith, of Perryville, is director of special education at Spencer County Schools. She represents state and local education officials.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Bennie Lee Ivory to the Governor’s Scholar Program Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring June 20, 2016.

Bennie Lee Ivory, of Louisville, is a retired editor. The appointment replaces John S. Cain, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the KASPER Advisory Council to serve for terms expiring Nov. 4, 2017:

Julianne Zehnder Ewen, of Lexington, is an advanced practice registered nurse at St. Joseph Primary Care Associates. She represents advance practice registered nurses.

Michelle Lofwall, of Lexington, is a physician at the University of Kentucky. She represents substance abuse and mental health professionals.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Karen Diane Reed to the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors to serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2017.

Karen Diane Reed, of Benton, is a licensed clinical professional counselor. She represents certified professional counselors. The appointment replaces Larry C. Sexton, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Public Transportation Infrastructure Authority to serve for terms expiring Oct. 1, 2017:

Joseph H. Mattingly III, of Lebanon, is the Marion County attorney. He represents the Kentucky Association of Counties.

Letcher County Judge-Executive Jim Ward, of Whitesburg, represents the Kentucky County Judge-Executive Association.

Glenn B. Mitchell, of Frankfort, is retired. He represents citizens at large.

Henderson Mayor Steve Austin represents mayors.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Dandridge Bailey Walton to the Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2016.

Dandridge Bailey Walton, of Bowling Green, is an attorney at Lanphear & Walton PLLC. The appointment replaces Charles Taylor, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Troy Dan Costellow to the commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2017.

Troy Dan Costellow, of Bowling Green, is a vocational agriculture teacher at Warren County Schools.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Sally T. Ark to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2017.

Sally T. Ark, of Elizabethtown, is employed by the county attorney for Hardin County. The appointment replaces Robert K. Claycomb, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Paul S. Poole to the commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2017.

Paul S. Poole, of Brandenburg, is a school administrator for the Meade County Board of Education.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed April Preece to the Big Sandy Community and Technical College Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019.

April Preece, of Lovely, is a community volunteer.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Certification of Wastewater System Operators to serve for terms expiring Aug. 31, 2017:

Robin Davis Strader, of Clarkson, is a water treatment plant head operator at Leitchfield Utilities. She represents certified operators.

Larry G. Grubbs, of Berea, is an environmental manager at Richmond Utilities. He represents management.

Calvin J. Smith, of Pineville, is a wastewater plant operator at Pineville Utilities Commission. He represents certified operators.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Linda L. Rumpke to the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corp. Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring June 26, 2017.

Linda L. Rumpke, of Bardstown, is president and CEO at Town & Country Bank and Trust Co. She represents commercial lending officers. The appointment replaces Peggy J. Peterson, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Daphne Todd Hosinski to the Kentucky Early Childhood Advisory Council to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2014.

Daphne Todd Hosinski, of Lexington, is a pediatrician at Pediatric & Adolescent Associates. She Represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Walter Randy Coe, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Justin “Jay” Miller to the Kentucky Board of Social Work to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 21, 2014.

Justin “Jay” Miller, of Louisville, is a professor of social work at Spalding University. He represents certified social workers. The appointment replaces Melissa L. Sorg, who has resigned.
