Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 10, 2014)Gov. Steve Beshear last week made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

on the boardsGov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Interagency Council for Services to Children with an Emotional Disability to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2017:

  • Lee Ann Kelley, of Ashland. She represents parents of a child with an emotional disability. The appointment replaces Angela S. Isaacs, whose term has expired.
  • Thomas James Kimble, of Radcliff, is a self-employed clinical pastoral counselor. He represents parents of a child with an emotional disability; he also serves as an alternate parent. The appointment replaces Peggy Sue Roark, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Lisa Lee to the Board of Certification of Alcohol and Drug Counselors to serve for a term expiring July 16, 2016.

  • Lisa Lee, of Louisville, works at The Genesis Shop. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Tanya Fogle, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Richard A. Sturgill to the Kentucky Horse Park Commission to serve for a term expiring Jan. 14, 2018.

  • Richard Sturgill, of Paris, is executive chairman at BPM Lumber LLC. The appointment replaces William H. Hintze, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Jan. 14, 2018: 


  • George Jeffrey Fisk, of Independence, is a self-employed consultant.
  • James Steven Wilson, of Goshen, is owner of 21c Museum Hotel.
  • William C. Hurt, of Lexington, is an attorney at Hurt, Crosbie & May PLLC.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky State Corrections Commission:

  • Emily “Libby” J. Taylor, of Lexington, is a real estate agent at RE/MAX Creative Realty. She represents business and industry. The appointment replaces Philip E. Mullins, whose term has expired. Taylor shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 17, 2017.
  • John M. Williams, of Lexington, represents practicing attorneys. The appointment replaces Mike Breen, whose term has expired. Williams shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 17, 2017.
  • Lawrence White, of Bowling Green, is a self-employed environmental consultant and specialist. He represents members at large. The appointment replaces Patricia A. Byron, whose term has expired. White shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 17, 2017.
  • Richard Todd Gardner, of Carlisle, is a business representative at IBEW Local Union 369. He represents labor. The appointment replaces Faye S. Liebermann, whose term has expired. Gardner shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 17, 2017.
  • G. L. Ovey, of Eddyville, is commonwealth’s attorney for the 56th Judicial Circuit. He represents commonwealth’s attorneys. The appointment replaces Christopher T. Cohron, who has resigned. Ovey shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Feb. 17, 2015.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Feb. 17, 2017:

  • Mickey L. Goff, of Frankfort, is a paralegal at Marvin Coles Law Office. She represents business and industry.
  • James H. Mooneyhan, of Franklin, is a radio sports director at Franklin Favorite and WFKN Radio. He represents members at large.
  • John Lucas Kiesel, of Louisville, is a retired physician. He represents service providers.
  • Laura B. Roberts, of Wilder, works at Campbell County Detention. She represents service providers.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Military Museum Committee to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 3017:

  • Ken Lucas, of Frankfort, is commissioner, Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. He represents the Kentucky Historical Society. The appointment replaces Margaret S. Plattner, whose term has expired.
  • Jacob B. McKinney, of Louisville, is in the Kentucky National Guard. He represents the Kentucky Historical Society. The appointment replaces Marlan M. Pinkston, whose term has expired.
  • Col. William Alan Denny, of London, is a military technician for the Kentucky National Guard. He represents the adjutant general. The appointment replaces Clyde L. Green, whose term has expired.
  • William Stephen McBride, of Lexington, is director of archaeology and interpretation at Camp Nelson Civil War Heritage Park. He represents the adjutant general. The appointment replaces Steven P. Bullard, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2017:

  • Emily P. Elam, of West Liberty, is retired from the Morgan County Board of Education. She represents the Kentucky Historical Society.
  • James Edgar Wallace, of Frankfort, is in the Kentucky National Guard. He represents the adjutant general.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Bari A. Lewis to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Council to serve for a term expiring May 9, 2018.

  • Bari A. Lewis, of Louisville, is vice president of mission and service at Alzheimer’s Association. She represents Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Alzheimer’s Association. The appointment replaces Tonya M. Cox, whose term has expired.
