Governor commits $750,000 to promote Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport

Department of Transportation has already committed $2 million

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 18, 2014) — Gov. Steve Beshear is making $750,000 available next fiscal year — which begins July 1 — to promote commercial air service at the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport.

That amount would complement $2 million already committed by businesses in the region and by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“Bowling Green and Warren County make up one of Kentucky’s most vibrant, progressive communities, and commercial air service there will be a tremendous asset,” Beshear said. “This represents a significant investment but an investment with the potential for significant dividends in economic development and quality of life. I appreciate the bipartisan efforts made by members of the General Assembly from Warren County to encourage this project’s funding.”

The state investment will be part of a revenue guarantee package that can be presented to airlines that are interested in operating at the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport.
