Applications being accepted for Recreational Trails Program, Land and Water Conservation Fund

Cities, counties, state and federal agencies eligible to apply

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 4, 2015) — Applications are being accepted for the 2015 funding cycle for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).  Applications for both programs are available to download from the Department for Local Government (DLG) website.

RTP is a grant matching reimbursement program for the development and/or maintenance of recreational trails and trailhead facilities for both motorized and non-motorized use, including assistance to purchase easements. Kentucky’s RTP is administered by DLG and funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Cities, counties, state and federal agencies are eligible to apply.

The deadline to submit a RTP application is March 30.

The LWCF is a grant matching reimbursement program for the development and/or maintenance of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities, such as campgrounds, sports and playfields, swimming and fishing areas, boating facilities and trails. Funding for this program is allocated to DLG by the National Park Service, which is part of the U.S. Department of Interior. Cities, counties, state and federal agencies are eligible to apply.

The deadline to submit a LWCF application is April 30.
