State releases county profile snapshots of early childhood status

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 24, 2015) — The Governor’s Office of Early Childhood (GOEC) today released county-specific data that allows communities to analyze the challenges and opportunities to help children be kindergarten-ready.

childhoodThe reports include information about results from the 2014 statewide kindergarten screener, the quality and availability of child care and information about participation in publicly funded preschool, Head Start and child care. It also includes demographic data related to children in poverty, participation in social service programs, and key indicators of possible obstacles to success for young children and their families.

This is the third year the Early Childhood Profiles were released by the GOEC in partnership with the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics (KCEWS), the Kentucky Department of Education and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
