Dix Comm. selling Frankfort State Journal to Ala.-based Boone Newspapers

Frankfort, Ky. – Dix Communications, which has published the The State Journal in Frankfort, Ky., for 53 years, has announced that the company is being sold to Boone Newspapers Inc., according to an article in The State Journal.

Boone Newspapers Inc. is based in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The article says the completion of the purchase is expected to close around Sept. 1.

According to the article the Dix family purchased the paper from the Perry family in 1962, and current publisher Ann Dix Maenza took over the role from her father, Al Dix, who served as publisher for 35 years. Mains will continue working, the article says, with Dix Communications in human resources and in marketing.
