Louisville’s Red Hog gets business loans for meaty expansion

Will create 12 full-time jobs, 6 part-time jobs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2015) — Red Hog, LLC has been approved for three METCO loans totaling the amount of $265,000 by the Louisville Metropolitan Business Development Corporation. The loans will leverage an additional $1.3 million for a total investment of $1.6 million to assist owners Katherine Garrett and Robert Hancock in the revitalization of 2622 Frankfort Avenue.

Loans include a $200,000 business loan, a $50,000 façade loan and a $15,000 accessibility loan.

The revitalized property will house a full service butcher shop, salumeria and café featuring meats from sustainable farms primarily in Kentucky, in addition to artisanal cheeses, and other complimentary grocery items. The café will be deli style and serve beer, wine and liquor. The owners of Red Hog have owned and operated Blue Dog Bakery since 1997.

This project will create 12 full-time and 6 part-time jobs. Red Hog has received all necessary planning approvals and is in the process of securing construction permits.
