Public meeting Dec. 10 on proposed Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center in West Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2015) — Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation is hosting a public meeting on the proposed Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse (460 Northwestern Pkwy.) from 6-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Officials from Parks and Recreation and their planning consultant, MKSK, will present concepts and preliminary renderings for the proposed Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center and associated nature-based outdoor recreational amenities for parks along the Ohio River in West Louisville and Portland (Chickasaw, Shawnee, and Portland Wharf).

The Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center is a component of Metro Parks’ West Louisville Outdoor Recreation Initiative that seeks to expand opportunities for youth and families in west Louisville to experience the great outdoors.

The initiative is receiving planning support from the National Park Service through their Recreational Trails and Conservation Assistance program.
