Kentucky Arts Council accepting submissions for 50th anniversary exhibit

Will be featured at Kentucky Crafted: The Market

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 29, 2016) — Kentucky artists have an opportunity to help the Kentucky Arts Council celebrate its 50th anniversary by submitting works for possible inclusion in “This is 50, a visual art exhibit to be featured during Kentucky Crafted: The Market.

This-is-50-eblast-bannerKentucky Crafted: The Market is the state’s premiere marketplace for artwork and craft produced by Kentucky artists. Music Scenes will run in conjunction with The Market, March 5-6, at the Lexington Convention Center, and will be available for viewing by all visitors to The Market.

“We’re looking for artwork that relates to the number 50, but the specifics are up to the individual artist’s imagination. Artists are free to interpret the theme literally, figuratively or metaphorically,” said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. “Show us what 50 means to you and help us creatively celebrate our golden anniversary.”

“This is 50” is open to all Kentucky visual artists, age 18 and older, who may submit up to two entries for consideration. Work must be original, two-dimensional, framed and ready to hang and must have been completed since January 2011. Dimensions must not exceed 36 inches wide and 48 inches tall, and the work must not exceed 25 pounds.

The application deadline is Feb. 8, and images must be submitted by Feb. 10.
