Lucina Health holds ribbon cutting for Louisville headquarters that could add up to 15 jobs

Tech company focuses on women’s health

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 29, 2016) — Lucina Health today held a ribbon cutting for its Louisville headquarters in Norton Commons that could add 10 to 15 high-tech jobs and has the potential to invest up to $3.5 million in the Louisville area over the next several years. Lucina Health uses integrated next-generation analytics, care management tools and mobile patient outreach apps to improve women’s health.

“Preterm birth accounts for half of all U.S. pregnancy costs, and pregnancy-related maternal mortality is worse than in 40 other countries,” said Lucina Health CEO Kevin Bramer. “We help reduce preterm birth by driving best-in-class care with deep obstetrics analytics — connecting moms, babies and the community that cares for them.”

Lucina will initially be targeting Medicaid plans as potential customers, as Medicaid pays for nearly half of the births in the U.S., although the platform will work for any patient care organization which has a vested interest in improving health, such as integrated health systems, accountable care organizations and self-insured employers. Passport Health Plan, headquartered in Louisville, is a development partner, the company’s first customer and helped provide input into product features.

Launched last year, Lucina Health has been working with Intel Care Innovations to build the technology platform. Headquartered in northern California, Intel Care Innovations also has a presence in Norton Commons, and Lucina’s new headquarters adds to an emerging tech cluster in the community. Lucina Health is backed by Chrysalis Ventures, Michigan-based Arboretum Ventures, and Kresge Foundation, along with individual investors.
