Awesome Inc. to launch web developer program in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 26, 2016) – Awesome Inc. will launch a three-month full-time training program for adults interested in computer programming as a profession beginning Aug. 22. The boot camp will teach participants various programming languages and is guaranteeing job placement as a junior developer with an employer partner upon graduation.

Junior developers often receive and average starting salary around $50,000 or more. The boot camp application deadline is Friday, May 27, and the total cost of the program is $9,500. Financing and flexible payment plans are available.

The boot camp is designed to quickly take beginners from the basics of programming to a level of competency in building modern web applications. With over 500 hours of hands-on training, attendees gain experience while building 10+ projects using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular.js, AWS, GitHub, Agile, and more.

“We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to code, and those that do will have an inherent advantage in the future economy. This is a great opportunity for those in our community who may be considering a career change or recently displaced employees to potentially change the trajectory of their life in only 3-months,” said Nick Such, director of Awesome Inc U., the entity presenting the training program.

In addition to combatting developer shortage, APAX Software and Awesome Inc U say their joint effort will tackle the gender and race imbalance in the tech industry by offering scholarships to women and minorities.

“We’re excited to help fill a gap in the technology sector across the state of Kentucky,” Awesome Inc. CEO Brian Raney said. “The reason we’ve launched this boot camp is that we’ve had a lot of companies in the area coming to us saying they can’t find enough developers to fill positions they have open.”

Awesome Inc U’s past students and interns have gotten jobs at companies like Facebook, Google, CBS Interactive and Eventbrite. Instructors have created mobile apps with millions of users, and work at places like HP, Facebook, and Apax Software.

For those interested in learning more about the Web Developer Bootcamp, Awesome Inc U will be offering an informational Open House on Thursday May 12 at its offices from 6-8:30pm. Awesome Inc is located at 348 E. Main St. in Lexington.
