Chefs from 15 of Louisville’s top restaurants team up to support Kosair Children’s Hospital

This year’s “Bourbon & Bowties: A Taste of Corbett’s” event will be conducted in honor of 4-year-old Maxwell Johnson, who has hemoglobin SC, a mild form of sickle cell anemia.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 5, 2012) — Local chefs from 15 of Louisville’s best-known restaurants will prepare specialty hors d’oeuvres for guests during a fundraiser at Corbett’s: An American Place on June 14. Instead of doing their handiwork in the kitchen, they’ll be out among the crowd, showing how they work magic with their ingredients.

This year’s “Bourbon & Bowties: A Taste of Corbett’s” event will be conducted in honor of 4-year-old Maxwell Johnson, who has hemoglobin SC, a mild form of sickle cell anemia.

Maxwell was born three months early, weighing only 2 lbs., 4 oz. He spent seven weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital, where he was also diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. While still receiving care for sickle cell today, Maxwell is a smart and affectionate child who enjoys music and naming the state capitals. He is excited to attend Kentucky Country Day this fall.

The inaugural Bourbon & Bowties event was conducted in 2010 in memory of Charles W. Gant, who passed away from viral encephalitis on June 3, 2009, at age 8. Family and friends established this event to give back to Kosair Children’s Hospital for the wonderful care Charles received, as well as to ensure other children have access to top-notch medical care.

Tickets for the event are $125 for general admission and $300 for a back of the house tour, which includes the opportunity to hobnob with the chefs, taste specially prepared hors d’oeuvres and reserve wines in a special lounge area on the Chef’s Patio, and explore Corbett’s state-of-the-art cooking facility. Back of the house tour guests also receive a specialty tie, bowtie or scarf and a commemorative bottle of Woodford Reserve. These items also are available for purchase. Reservations can be made by calling 1-502- 629-KIDS.

Participating chefs include: Kathy Cary of Lilly’s; Dean Corbett of Corbett’s: An American Place and Equus & Jack’s Lounge; Agostino Gabriele of Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant; Jim Gerhardt of Limestone Restaurant; Geoffery Heyde of The Village Anchor Pub & Roost; Jeff Jarfi of Jarfi’s Catering; Anthony Lamas of Seviche; Nick Sullivan of 610 Magnolia; Peng Looi of Asiatique and August Moon; Josh Moore of Volare; Michael Paley of Proof on Main; John Plymale of Porcini; Daniel Stage of Louisville Country Club; Shawn Ward of Jack Fry’s; and Anoosh Shariat of Brownings Restaurant and Brewery.
