Louisville: Close to clients, Ky. gets Norgren distribution ops, 22 jobs

Citing improved efficiency and closer proximity to its customers, Norgren Inc., a leading supplier of high-performance pneumatic motion and fluid control solutions, has decided to in-source its distribution and move the operations from Laredo, Texas, to Louisville.

The move will create 22 jobs in the Louisville area.

Norgren, which has been in business for more than 70 years, has 22 manufacturing locations globally and a sales and service network in 75 countries. The company offers sector expertise covering industrial automation, life sciences, energy, rail, commercial vehicles, and food and beverage industries.

“Louisville is a great place for us because of its proximity to our customer base,” said Andy Thompson, Norgren vice president, supply chain and logistics. “This, along with the density of shipping operations, means more than 70 percent of orders will be in transit three days or less.”

Norgren executives said the decision to in-source rather than continue with third-party logistics was based on efficiency and flexibility.

“In-sourcing with trained Norgren employees means we can respond more quickly and accurately to changing customer requirements,” said Norgren logistics manager Chris Adams. “This will make product configuration and kitting more efficient and help shorten lead times.”
