LOUISVILLE (May 15, 2017) – Middleton Reutlinger has added two associates, Kylie Hofmann and Patrick Cummins, to its Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Kylie P. Hofmann focuses on trademark and copyright law. Prior to joining Middleton Reutlinger, Kylie worked as an associate in the Louisville office of a regional law firm. While there, she focused on business, developing an understanding of business formation and finance.

During law school, Kylie clerked with a local law firm, focusing on business litigation and intellectual property. She worked with the Entrepreneurship Clinic with Business School teams to start an LLC and assist in developing their intellectual property portfolio. She was also a Research Assistant for Professor John Cross focusing on unfair competition and a Legal Intern for The Alley Theatre Legal Department. Before and during law school, Kylie was a Research Assistant for Professor Dwayne Buttler, concentrated in copyright law, including performance rights and university copyright policy.

Hoffmann has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Spanish from the University of Louisville. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.

Patrick D. Cummins is a registered patent attorney and has experience on both sides of patent prosecution, specifically as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and as a patent attorney in Silicon Valley working with large technology companies. He focuses his practice on developing patents in a wide range of electrical-related subject matter such as software, hardware, signal processing, power management, networking, content licenses, payment systems, manufacturing, control systems, device testing, display circuits, encryption, wireless communications, and various circuit components.

Cummins has a Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville. He has a Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law.
