FORT MITCHELL, Ky. (April 12, 2018) — The Northern Kentucky Chamber Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Leadership NKY Class of 2019, the program’s 40th class.

A nine-month program designed to help develop business and community leaders, Leadership NKY uses the community as a classroom to help participants gain an understanding of the strengths and challenges of the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area and the skills necessary to motivate and engage others in collaborative efforts to address them.

“Leadership NKY opened my eyes,”said Shannon Smith, who owns a law office and was a member of Leadership NKY Class of 2018. “I was aware of difficult issues facing our region, but this program provided me in-depth insight and unique, hands-on experiences along with first-hand accounts from our struggling population and those serving them. These experiences and the relationships I developed are invaluable resources for future collaborative efforts to improve our region. Not only did the program prepare me to be a better servant leader, as an entrepreneur, the connections I gained will be instrumental for my business moving forward.”

Leadership NKY participants are selected from a variety of job sectors and civic interests, and provided substantive education by industry leaders across a diverse range of topics, including economic development, education, government and inclusive leadership.

Since its inception, 1,300 alumni have come together through the Leadership NKY program to make a difference in the community. At the end of each year the classes have used their insights gained during the program to complete hands-on projects aimed at supporting and improving the community. Past projects include Unlock the Block, Hopebox Derby, River Cities Relay, UpStart, Emergency Shelter NKY, the NKY MakerSpace and more.

Along with a completed application, interested individuals are asked to submit two references and must have full support of the company/organization they represent, as well as their employer or supervisor. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. Tuition is $2,500 for NKY Chamber members, $3,000 for future NKY Chamber members. A maximum of 50 applications will be selected.

Leadership NKY applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.  Organizers will announce the Class of 2019 in July, and sessions will run September 2018 through May 2019.
