Frankfort, Ky. – Republican Matt Bevin became the 62nd Governor of Kentucky after being sworn in in the early hours of Dec. 8.
When Bevin gets to work on Day 1, here’s what the current makeup of his administration looks like.
Lieutenant Governor: Jenean Hampton
Hampton becomes the 57th lieutenant governor. She is the first African-American to hold any statewide office in Kentucky.
Energy and Environment Cabinet Secretary: Charles G. Snavely
Snavely, a native of Prestonsburg, brings more than 35 years of experience in the coal mining industry. Snavely served recently as the president of Eastern U.S. Operations for Arch Coal, Inc. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president of mining operations of International Coal Group.
Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary: Ret. Col. William M. Landrum III
Landrum has more than 36 years of worldwide military service and corporate experience in the areas of resource management and financial operations for sensitive Army Military Intelligence and clandestine programs across the Department of Defense.
Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary: Hal Heiner
Heiner is a longtime Kentucky resident and has been an active participant in helping to shape civic policy. His community activities have included serving as a Vice Chair of Greater Louisville, Inc. and being elected in 2002 to the Louisville Metro Council. On the council he spent eight years focusing on finding efficiencies in services, government transparency and innovative ways for the community to grow and prosper.
State Budget Director: John E. Chilton
Chilton has more than 40 years of experience as a CPA serving large and small private businesses. He is co-founder of Mountjoy Chilton Medley LLP (MCM), a regional accounting firm with nearly 300 professionals in Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati and Jeffersonville.
Health and Family Services Cabinet Secretary: Vickie Yates Brown Glisson
Glisson joins the administration with extensive experience in health care law, business, and government affairs. Glisson is a nationally recognized health and health insurance lawyer and member of the Health Enterprise Practice Group at Frost Brown Todd LLC where she concentrates her practice in health care, health insurance law, government affairs, informatics and mediation.
Labor Cabinet Secretary: Derrick K. Ramsey
With a professional career stretching over three decades, Derrick Ramsey’s experiences have ranged from winning Super Bowls, to running collegiate athletic departments, to serving as an official within the Kentucky state government. He returns to the public sector after seven years leading the Coppin State University athletic department.
Personnel Cabinet Secretary: Thomas B. Stephens
Stephens is an attorney and entrepreneur focused on new business development. Stephens has held various positions in government, including service as General Counsel to the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet where he led a cross-functional team of Cabinet’s attorneys, support staff, and outside legal counsel in trial and appellate practice
Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary: Don Parkinson
Parkinson is a retired Senior Vice President of KFC and YUM Brands, where he provided leadership to the KFC franchise system. Prior to joining KFC in 1980, Parkinson served as Advertising Manager of Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors. He has also served twice as the Interim President of the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Executive Cabinet Secretary: Scott Brinkman
Brinkman is a former Kentucky State Representative and attorney with more than 35 years of legal and management experience.
Chief of Staff: James “Blake” Brickman
Brickman previously served as U.S. Senator Jim Bunning’s Chief of Staff in Washington D.C., working closely with many state and federal officials and government agencies. After moving back to Kentucky, Brickman practiced law as a civil litigator and in-house counsel.
General Counsel for the Office of the Governor: Stephen Pitt
Pitt has practiced law for Wyatt, Tarrant, and Combs LLP for 38 years. Pitt has been lead litigation counsel for numerous national companies during his career, including DuPont, General Electric, Rockwell International and Occidental Chemical.
Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Brigadier General Stephen R. Hogan
General Hogan assumes the position with a decorated career of more than 30 years in service to the nation and the commonwealth. Most recently, General Hogan led efforts to protect the dependents of service members as the Chief Executive Officer of the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.
Commissioner of the Department of Parks: Donnie Holland
Prior to appointment Holland served as general manager of Wabash National Trailer Centers, president of Benson International and a general manager for Johnson Controls Inc.
Deputy General Counsel: Chad Meredith
Meredith, 34, has had a distinguished legal career. He is one of the few lawyers in Kentucky to have clerked for both a United States district judge and a United States circuit judge.
Senior Advisor to the Governor: Andrew V. McNeill
McNeill, 42, has been the executive director for the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association since December 2012. His prior professional experience includes serving as legislative director in Kentucky’s Governor’s Office. He was the chief of staff to Kentucky’s Secretary of Commerce and the executive eirector for the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy: Adam M. Meier
Meier, 33, a northern Kentucky attorney, served as a policy and political adviser for the Bevin Gubernatorial campaign. In addition to state level campaign experience, Meier has public service experience, working as senior contracting officer for the federal government, as well as serving as a member of the Fort Thomas City Council.
