KFC Yum! Center preparing to host NCAA South Regional

43,000 bottled beverages consumed at least year’s games

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 22, 2016) — Months of preparation have taken place as the KFC Yum! Center readies for 40,000 fans and hundreds of players, staff, coaches and media members to descend on the arena for the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball South Regional.

UnknownThe first game will be at 7:10 p.m. Thursday when No. 3 seed Miami (27-7) against No. 2 seed Villanova. In the second game, scheduled for 9:40 p.m., or 30 minutes after the first game, No. 1 seed and the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed Kansas (32-4) plays No. 5 seed Maryland (27-8).

The winners play Sunday for a berth in the Final Four.

Last year’s tourney games at the KFC Yum! Center by the numbers:

  • 43,000: Number of fountain sodas and bottled beverages consumed at 2015 NCAA DI Men’s First and Second Rounds
  • 10,000: Pounds of recyclable or compostable waste that will be collected at the 2016 South Regional – the weight of an average African elephant
