In celebration of 75 years of education
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 4, 2014) — Bluegrass Community and Technical College celebrated 75 years of education on Thursday with a dedication at the Newtown Campus.
BCTC received a Governor’s Certificate and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design plaque for its Newtown Campus Classroom Building, which earned LEED Gold Certification in May.
“We do go back 75 years with the start of adult education courses that were designed to help people who were coming out of the Depression to get new skills and the jobs that were out there,” said BCTC president Dr. Augusta Julian. “And we’re still doing that 75 years later, whether somebody’s working on an associate degree to take to a bachelors program or looking for job skills.”
