Similar bill failed to pass Senate last year
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 5, 2015) — A Kentucky House committee today approved increasing the state’s minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10 per hour by July 2017. The House passed a similar bill last year, but it was not approved by the Senate.
About 400,000 Kentuckians earn less than $10.10 an hour, said House Speaker Greg Stumbo (D-Floyd, Pike).
The bill would exempt retail stores, service businesses, hotels, motels and restaurants with annual gross sales under $500,000 per year.
