MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University’s School of Nursing and Health Professions now offers a blended Bachelor of Science in Nursing program through a partnership with Hopkinsville Community College.
The agreement, which was signed earlier this summer, has been implemented for the current fall semester with 55 nursing students from HCC’s associate’s degree in nursing program beginning their studies through the new blended BSN program. Upon the associate’s degree completion and passing of the national licensure exam, students can transfer to Murray State to begin an online RN-to-BSN program.
This blended program is the third such agreement involving Murray State’s School of Nursing, as similar partnerships are in place with Madisonville Community College (2014) and Henderson Community College (2015). The first Madisonville graduates have been admitted to Murray State with a total of 11 students starting this fall.
“As a result of our great partnership with Hopkinsville Community College, students who have successfully completed their degree requirements and nursing licensure exam can seamlessly transfer to Murray State to continue their studies through our School of Nursing,” said Carol Murch, assistant professor and RN-to-BSN program coordinator at Murray State. “Graduates of this blended program will succeed in a career that influences the well-being of individuals, families and communities.”
“HCC is excited about this opportunity that will allow our nursing students to continue their education with Murray State University,” said Peggy Bozarth, HCC professor and director of nursing. As a matter of fact, 100 percent of our first semester nursing students have already signed up to be a part of this blended program.”
