Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 8, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Dusty Columbia Embury, Carl Bradford Schneider, Kelvin Ray Fugate, Robin Davis Bush and Bobby P. Begley have been appointed to the Statewide Independent Living Council: 

• Dr. Dusty Columbia Embury, of Lexington, is an associate professor of special education at Eastern Kentucky University. She will represent advocates of and for individuals with disabilities and serve for a term expiring May 20, 2020; and 
• Carl Bradford Schneider, of Bowling Green, is a community mental health administrator with LifeSkills, Inc. He will represent organizations providing services for individuals with disabilities and serve for a term expiring May 20, 2020; and
• Kelvin Ray Fugate, of Lost Creek, is a disability community specialist at the Disability Resource Center in Hazard. He will represent organizations providing services for individuals with disabilities and serve for a term expiring May 20, 2020; and 
• Robin Davis Bush, of Owensboro, is director of special education for Daviess County Public Schools. She will represent advocates of and for individuals with disabilities and serve for a term expiring May 20, 2020; and
• Bobby P. Begley, of Hazard, is a volunteer with the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard. He will represent organizations providing services for individuals with disabilities and serve for a term expiring May 20, 2020.  

The Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is a federally mandated organization established under Title VII, Section 705 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1992. The Governor appoints 21 volunteer members for terms of three years to direct the not-for-profit organization objectives. These members make up the council for decision-making. The primary purpose of the council is to encourage and advocate independent living for Kentuckians with disabilities throughout the state.

Rodney Steven Frodge and Ronald Scott Tussey Jr. have been appointed to the Waste Tire Working Group: 

• Rodney Steven Frodge, of Maysville, is a solid waste coordinator with the Mason County Fiscal Court. He will represent solid waste coordinators of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2020; and
• Ronald Scott Tussey Jr., of Richmond, is the director of environmental and animal care with the Madison County Fiscal Court. He will represent solid waste coordinators of Kentucky and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2020.  

The Waste Tire Working Group is a committee appointed by the Governor to discuss and research topics in waste tire management in Kentucky and to make recommendations on ways to improve the commonwealth’s programs.
