LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 2, 2018) — Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health, will hold three upcoming free seminars in Louisville focused on topics that affect many children and teenagers nationwide – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and engaging in negative and destructive behavior. The seminars will explain how these issues impact children, offering support and education to help address the disorder in the home and school.

The first seminar will address attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Medora Elementary School, located at 11801 Deering Road in Louisville. The seminar will explain how ADHD impacts children beyond impulsivity, hyperactivity and inattentiveness, offering support and education to help address the disorder in the home and school. The speaker for the seminar is Nevia Greenwell, a licensed professional art therapist with Our Lady of Peace.

On Thursday, March 29, a free seminar will be held to provide tips for preventing pre-teens from engaging in negative and destructive behavior. The seminar will be held from 6-7 p.m. at Alex Kennedy Elementary School, located at 4515 Taylorsville Road. The workshop will be led by Greg Oerther, clinical social worker with Our Lady of Peace, who will provide education about warning signs, triggers, finding motivation and encouraging change in adolescents. Topics covered will include ADHD, bullying, social media, and substance abuse risk, among others.

On Wednesday, April 25, a seminar will be held to discuss attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and the impact it has on children. The workshop will be held from 5-6 p.m. at Bridges of Hope Neighborhood Place, located at 1411 Algonquin Parkway. David Houvenagle, licensed clinical social worker with Our Lady of Peace, will lead the seminar.

These three seminars are part of the 2018 Peace for Parents educational series. Through the program, Our Lady of Peace experts host educational seminars to help parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors and others who want to learn more about how to face challenging issues with children and adolescents. The seminars usually last an hour.
