Kentucky American Water names new director of engineering

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky American Water has appointed Kurt Stafford director of engineering for American Water’s Southeast Division, reporting to Nick Rowe, president of Kentucky American Water and senior vice president of the Southeast Division. Stafford will be based in Kentucky American Water’s Lexington office.

In this position, Stafford will manage and coordinate capital investment projects and lead engineering activities for both Kentucky and Tennessee American Water. Stafford joined Tennessee American Water as engineering manager in 2016 and since that time has led many critical projects, including the installation of a 30-inch-diameter water main across the Tennessee River in Chattanooga.

Prior to joining American Water, Stafford spent nine years in engineering roles with the Knoxville Utilities board in Knoxville, Tenn.

Stafford holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and a master of science in city planning from the University of Tennessee and a master of business administration from Tennessee Technological University as well as various professional licensures and certifications.

Stafford and his wife, Vanessa, have two children and will live in Lexington.
