Keeneland September Sale graduates sweep top three spots in Kentucky Derby

18,466 fans Celebrate Derby Day at Keeneland

Kentucky Derby winner I'll Have Another was purchased at Keeneland in September for $11,000.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 7, 2012) – Graduates of Keeneland’s 2010 September Yearling Sale – I’ll Have Another, Bodemeister and Dullahan – finished 1-2-3 in Sunday’s 138th running of the Kentucky Derby (G1).

Keeneland-sold horses Went the Day Well, Creative Cause and Liaison rounded out the top six Derby finishers.

I’ll Have Another was consigned by Brookdale Sales, agent, and purchased for $11,000 by Victor Davila.

Dullahan won the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland on April 14, while Went the Day Well trained at Keeneland leading up to the Derby.

On Friday, Keeneland September Sale alum Believe You Can, bred and owned by Brereton C. Jones, won the Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Keeneland hosted 18,466 fans for its 18th annual Kentucky Derby Day celebration, which featured live music, picnicking in the paddock, pony rides and face painting for kids, and a Derby Bash at the Keeneland Entertainment Center. Fans at Keeneland wagered $1,785,766 on the Run for the Roses.
