Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 8, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin today made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Buford Hurley II, Alice R. Harris, Paul M. See and Joseph Monroe have been appointed to the Kentucky Wireless Interoperability Executive Committee.

• Buford Hurley II, of Flatwoods, is the Greenup County E-911 director. He will represent the Kentucky Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association/Association of Public Safety Communication Officials and serve for a term expiring July 22, 2019.
• Alice R. Harris, of Mt. Washington, is a paralegal. She will represent the Kentucky League of Cities and serve for a term expiring July 22, 2019.
• Paul M. See, of Cold Spring, is a radio project manager. He will represent the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs and serve for a term expiring July 22, 2019.
• Joseph Monroe, of Georgetown, is chief of police for the University of Kentucky Police Department. He will represent Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police and serve for a term expiring July 22, 2019.

The Kentucky Wireless Interoperability Executive Committee was created to address communications interoperability, a homeland security issue critical to the ability of public safety first responders to communicate with each other by radio. The Committee advises and makes recommendations regarding strategic wireless initiatives to achieve public safety voice and data communications interoperability.

Ronnie Nolan, Philip A. Russell, Lisa Payne Jones, Steven R. Gold and John O. Sivley have been appointed to the Juvenile Justice Oversight Council.

• Dr. Ronnie Nolan, of Frankfort, is an education administrator. He will represent public schools or an education group or organization and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2018.
• Lt. Philip A. Russell, of Louisville, is a police officer. He will represent law enforcement and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2018.
• Judge Lisa Payne Jones, of Owensboro, is Daviess County Chief District Court Judge. She will represent district judges and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2018.
• Steven R. Gold, of Henderson, is the Henderson County Attorney. He will represent the County Attorneys’ Association and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2018.
• Dr. John O. Sivley, of Bowling Green, is a clinical social worker. He will represent community-based organizations (whether for-profit or nonprofit) with experience in programs for juveniles, including substance abuse prevention and treatment, case management, mental health or counseling, and serve for a term expiring August 1, 2018.

The Juvenile Justice Oversight Council provides independent review of the state juvenile justice system and recommendations to the General Assembly. The Council actively engages in the implementation of the juvenile justice reforms in 2014 Kentucky Acts, Chapter 132, collects and reviews performance measurement data, and continues to review the juvenile justice system for changes that improve public safety, hold youth accountable, provide better outcomes for children and families and control juvenile justice costs.
